The Journey Begins
I was confused for the past few weeks, my cycle was all off, I had weird tinges of cramping, and yesterday I was so incredibly nauseous it was hard to even drink water. Well...
Yep.
We were planning on beginning a family next summer, the summer of 2012, to have a baby in 2013, and were actively using preventative measures.
Apparently our little baby bird had different ideas.
I took two home pregnancy tests, one that I had laying around because I feel people should have these things, which is the one you see above. The result is supposed to take 2 minutes to appear, and it blinked to life in about 10 seconds. I also bought a different brand, thinking that perhaps I did the test wrong, and it appeared immediately as well. Matt laughed at me, since I was still saying "Maybe I did that one wrong, too!" I think I probably can handle sticking a stick in a cup. Pregnant.
Matt is so incredibly excited, so nervous and happy, I've never seen him so excited about anything! It is refreshing to see him so happy, and he can't leave me alone, which is nice, actually. =)
I am excited, but more scared than anything, because according to my cycle I am 5, almost 6 weeks pregnant, and have not been doing anything in preparation for this baby. Matt assures me that millions of people have gotten pregnant before they knew about it, that everything is fine. I'm just glad that it's not quite week six yet, which is brain and heart time, and now I'm taking both vitamins I'm supposed to be taking, although I can't keep any food down except for carbs.
It's funny, I thought it was the stress of finding out all of this news yesterday that was causing the nausea, after a very stressful week. Waking up this morning, I realize I found out just in time - I'd hate to take medicine or something for the upset stomach. I may go buy ginger supplements, I read an NIH double blind study that says ginger is completely safe for baby.
Baby!
I feel excited and totally unprepared. I guess we'd better get a second bedroom. According to the internet, the due date is March 26th. We'll see what the doctor says.
I can't wait to tell my parents and sister, Matt wanted to tell everyone yesterday but I told him he had to at least wait until we saw the doctor and talked to my family and his.
Baby!
And so the journey begins.
